QUARRIES
Established in 1963, SETP has evolved to become the exclusive operator of the Comblanchien and Ladoix-Serrigny Les Buis quarries in Burgundy.
COMBLANCHIEN
Actively mined since the early 19th century, this quarry gained prominence with the development of the Paris-Lyon-Marseille railway and the Haussmanian architectural projects.

LADOIX-SERRIGNY
The ‘Les Buis’ quarry, opened in the latter half of the 20th century, is distinct for its top layer of Corton stone, noted for its pinkish-beige hue interspersed with purple veins.

EXTRACTION PROCESS
Acutely aware of our activities’ environmental impact, we extract with two core principles in mind:
CONSERVATION AND UTILISATION OF THE QUARRY
• Make use of all the layers, from the wood on top, down to dimension stone layers
• Usage of small blocks for small products (pavers)
• Conversion of block remnants into aggregates
MINIMISING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
• Increased efficiency through taller extraction fronts (6-7m)
• Regular renewal of quarry machinery to lower energy consumption
• Reduced use of hydrobag cushions by investing in a stone bench pusher
• Less water usage through widespread adoption of dry-cutting techniques (bank chainsaw machines)
• Monitoring of flora and fauna on site
• Environmental compensation, including limestone grasslands and senescence islands (areas of natural decay)
• Proximity of processing plants to extraction fronts, to decrease road traffic
