QUARRIES

Nos carrières - SETP

Established in 1963, SETP has evolved to become the exclusive operator of the Comblanchien and Ladoix-Serrigny Les Buis quarries in Burgundy.

COMBLANCHIEN

Actively mined since the early 19th century, this quarry gained prominence with the development of the Paris-Lyon-Marseille railway and the Haussmanian architectural projects.

EXTRACTION PROCESS

Acutely aware of our activities’ environmental impact, we extract with two core principles in mind:

CONSERVATION AND UTILISATION OF THE QUARRY

Make use of all the layers, from the wood on top, down to dimension stone layers
Usage of small blocks for small products (pavers)
Conversion of block remnants into aggregates

infographie-pierres-en

MINIMISING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Increased efficiency through taller extraction fronts (6-7m)
Regular renewal of quarry machinery to lower energy consumption
Reduced use of hydrobag cushions by investing in a stone bench pusher
Less water usage through widespread adoption of dry-cutting techniques (bank chainsaw machines)
Monitoring of flora and fauna on site
Environmental compensation, including limestone grasslands and senescence islands (areas of natural decay)
Proximity of processing plants to extraction fronts, to decrease road traffic
